Return to Rescue Animals

Ready for Rehoming…
Crystal is a boa constrictor whose exact species and sex are unknown, but they have lovely brown and red tones. We were contacted after Crystal was found in an abandoned house (alongside Cracker, a royal python). They were signed over to our care and became an intake at the rescue.
As an abandoned animal, we don’t know anything about Crystal’s previous care, but they were found in a dirty vivarium with no heat.
Crystal arrived quite dehydrated and a little underweight. They visited the vets for a check and Arenavirus test, which came back negative. They can be hissy when disturbed, but have been lovely to handle once picked up. Crystal’s faecal test was positive for traces of pinworm too small to treat, the new keeper is advised to re-test in 3 months (with treatment covered by Jelly Exotics if the results are positive).
Beautiful boa looking for a second chance!
Care Requirements:
Crystal will need an enclosure that is a minimum of 6x3x3ft and their keeper will need to be willing to upgrade this as they grow if necessary. They will need a caged overhead basking bulb set to 32 degrees celcius with a dimming thermostat, as well as a caged UVB source of 5-7%. Crystal will need at least 2 hides, appropriate decor for climbing and a suitable substrate – such as fine grade orchid bark or a sand/soil mix. They are fed a medium/large rat every 2-4 weeks with timings and prey sizes sometimes varied for a natural diet.
