Lupin

Lupin lives with one of our trustees.

Lupin is a 6 year old, male, Hermann’s tortoise. He came to us as his young keepers felt he needed better care after they moved to a smaller home. We don’t know much about his previous housing, but he now appreciates his large tortoise table and exercise time in the house.

Lupin had very severe Metabolic Bone Disease and pyramiding on his shell. His shell was soft to touch and his limbs were weak, so he was unable to hold himself off of the ground. This was most likely caused by an incorrect diet and lack of supplementation and UVB. Since being with us, his shell has hardened significantly and he has grown to be very healthy! He LOVES his food and shell scratches.

Lupin is a loveable character, but he will sometimes pee on you whilst you hold him!
