Return to Rescue Animals
Smeagol is a hypomelanistic corn snake, thought to be around 7-8 years old. She was handed in simply as an unwanted pet. She was originally thought to be male, however has been probed as female – but will retest as the probe went in 6 scales on one side and 3 scales on the other.
Besides being overweight, Smeagol is in good condition as well as taking food well.
Smeagol is very shy, but will be handled. It will just take time for her to warm to someone new after not being handled for a long time.
A super shy snake, but still kind-natured.
Smeagol will need a 4x1x1ft vivarium as a minimum, to allow space to exercise and move around. A caged over-head heat source should be fitted with a suitable thermostat to maintain a warm-side temperature of 32C. The cool side should sit below 23C. A low-level UV bulb should be provided – 5% ideally. As he is overweight, Smeagol is on a restricted diet, of medium mice every 2-3 weeks.
