Return to Rescue Animals

Under Quarantine…
Rubie is a new intake, so is currently in her minimum quarantine period.
Rubie is a 3 year old, female corn snake hybridised with a king snake. She was surrender to the rescue after her keeper no longer had time to care for her and was struggling with her eating habits.
She was kept in a 3ft vivarium with overhead heat and was bred by her keeper. She was fed a large mouse every 8-10 days.
Rubie is friendly to handle but is quite small for her age. She reportedly refused food for a long time but now regurgitates every meal a couple days after feeding. Our main concern for her is Cryptosporidiosis, so we are having her tested for this during her quarantine.
Beautiful but complicated!
Care Requirements:
Rubie will need a 4ft vivarium as a minimum, to allow space to exercise and move around. A caged, overhead heat source should be fitted with a suitable thermostat to maintain a warm-side temperature of 32C. The cool side should sit below 23C. A low-level UV bulb should be provided – 5-7% ideally. Rubie should be fed a medium/large mouse every 1-2 weeks.
Our care guide for corn snakes can be found HERE.
