Return to Rescue Animals
Sid is a new intake so is currently in his minimum quarantine period.
Sid is a young corn snake believed to be male and around 2.5 years old. He was surrendered as his previous keeper no longer had the time to care for him as their children were no longer interested in him.
He was previously housed in a 3ft vivarium with a red heat bulb, UVB and aspen bedding. He was fed small mice or rat pups every week.
Sid arrived in good condition with no notable health issues. He had not been regularly handled so was quite tense and a little defensive. We will be working with him to try and calm his nerves.
A young snake full of potential!
Sid will need a 4ft vivarium as a minimum, to allow space to exercise and move around. A caged, overhead heat source should be fitted with a suitable thermostat to maintain a warm-side temperature of 32C. The cool side should sit below 23C. A low-level UV bulb should be provided – 5-7% ideally. Sid should be fed a small/medium mouse every 2/3 weeks.
