Return to Rescue Animals

Under Quarantine…

Voldemort is recovering from major surgery, so is currently unavailable for adoption.

Voldemort is a 7 year old bearded dragon, believed to be male. He was surrendered as his previous keeper inherited him from a family member and did not feel prepared to care for him.

He was kept in a 4ft wooden vivarium with a heat bulb, UVB and wood pellets. He was fed salad and live insects.

The end of Voldemort’s tail was necrotic and he also had hard masses in his abdomen. He has recently undergone surgery to remove an abscess from his gall bladder and liver and amputate the end of his tail.

He is handleable but a fussy eater and needs time to recover.

Will be a good first dragon, but needs time to recover.

Care Requirements:

Voldemort will need a 4x2x2ft vivarium as a minimum, to allow space to exercise and move around. An overhead heat source should be fitted with a suitable thermostat to maintain a warm-side temperature of 38-43C. The cool side should sit below 30C and 18C at night. A high-level UV bulb should be provided both for a day/night cycle and for UV – 10-12% ideally. Rex should be fed fresh salad daily and staple insects two or three times a week (locusts, crickets, dubia roaches). These should be dusted with calcium and a calcium with Vitamin D3 powder alternatively.
