Rehoming

If you’re looking to bring a new exotic pet into your home, we offer a number of ways you can find your next companion. Not only can you adopt an animal direct from us, we also support owners with advertising for private rehomes.

Anyone looking to rehome via Jelly Exotics, is expected to meet our minimum enclosure requirements and pass a suitability check.

Find out the ways you can rehome an animal below…

Adoption

“Adopting an animal may not change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal”

Adopting one of our rescue animals is a rewarding experience – you are giving an animal with a tough history a chance at being loved as they should be. The benefit of adopting one of our own rescue animals, is that you can be assured they have been health assessed by our team, and monitored closely throughout their quarantine period. Only once we are happy with their condition, do they become available for adoption. Visit our Rescue page for more information on our rehabilitation process.

Upon adoption you will also receive the below information, via email:

  • Your animals story and history
  • An activity log for your animal
  • A copy of their in-house health check
  • Their veterinary history (if applicable)
  • A suitable care guide for your species

We don’t have any set adoption fees; however, we do expect adopters to make a donation of their choosing to our organisation – without donations we simply wouldn’t exist!

If you are interested in adopting from us, visit our Adopt page for a list of available animals.

Direct Rehoming

Sometimes we are asked to take in animals that are visibly healthy and who are not in an urgent situation. Due to our limited space, we are unable to bring these animals into the rescue; this ensures our spaces are available to those in desperate need.

In these cases, we offer to advertise the animals here on our website and our social media pages to help the current owner find a new home for them.

We do a remote, basic assessment on any animals being advertised for direct rehoming – this includes observing their physical condition through pictures, understanding their behaviour and eating/toileting habits from the owners descriptions and assessing their housing for potential issues.

Potential new owners are screened in the same way we screen those wishing to adopt direct from us. So we will ensure you are suitable for the animal, as well as able to provide an enclosure that meets our minimum requirements, where an enclosure doesn’t come with the animal.

Once we have completed the screening process, we will exchange the contact details of the current owner and potential rehomer, in order to complete the exchange privately.

Jelly Exotics are not responsible for the actions of the current owner, nor any health problems that may arise with the animal. Please use your own judgement before collecting an animal.

If you are interested in rehoming an animal via this program, please visit our Direct Rehoming webpage to view the animals available and submit an application form.
