Crystal is a boa constrictor whose sub-species and sex are unknown, but they have lovely brown and red tones. We were contacted after Crystal was found in an abandoned house (alongside Cracker, a royal python). They were signed over to our care and became an intake at the rescue.
As an abandoned animal, we don’t know anything about Crystal’s previous care, but they were found in a dirty vivarium with no heat.
Crystal arrived quite dehydrated and a little underweight. They visited the vets for a check and Arenavirus test, which came back negative. Crystal’s initial faecal test was positive for traces of pinworm, but too few to warrant treatment. This will need to be monitored by a new keeper, but shouldn’t cause issue.
They can be hissy when disturbed, but have been lovely to handle once picked up, even attending our events meeting the public.
A beautiful boa looking for a second chance!
