Seamus is a large, common boa constrictor. He was believed to be found by someone while walking the dog, and left in a box at the Exotic Zoo, Telford. His history and previous care are unknown due to this.
Seamus is slightly overweight, but otherwise in great condition. He has scale damage from being in what we believe must have been cramped living conditions, and some old scars along his back. He did arrive with mites, but these were treated quickly, and he also tested negative for arenavirus.
Seamus is a lovely boy to handle. He sometimes strikes at the glass if he believes he is being fed, but once he realises this is not the case, he settles. He is a typical boa to remove from the enclosure, sometimes being vocal. In general he is a softie to handle, and has attending our public events with no problems; he likes to feel fully supported, otherwise can panic and thrash.
A gentle giant, perfect as someone’s first large species! 🐍
